1st

From 1 August, all employees are entitled to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave each year. The (Unpaid) Family and Domestic Violence Leave configuration settings under awards have been updated - the leave category is disabled from award leave allowance templates, and the work type is not enabled automatically for all employees. Please ensure that employees no longer use the unpaid leave category or work type.

July 2023

The pay conditions rule sets Permanent Vehicle Industry RS&R - Employee, Driver or Salesperson & Casual Vehicle Industry RS&R - Employee, Driver or Salesperson have been updated to reflect the correct Tool Allowance weekly calculations.

We have updated the pay rate templates so Tool Allowance are hourly rates.

We have updated the award to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s National Minimum Wage increase detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2022-23 decision and also includes updates to expense-related allowances. You can find information on the Determinations here and here. These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after the 1st July 2023.

Please install these updates after you have finalised your last pay run before the first full pay period beginning on or after the 1st July 2023. We have updated pay condition rule sets to remove the capping of Leading Hand Allowances as per the award; this allowance pays on all hours worked, including overtime.

We have updated the award to reflect changes made as part of the Fair Work Decision regarding Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave. You can find further information on what changes we applied to the platform and what you should be aware of within this article. We have created the following new categories:

  • New Leave Category: Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave.
  • New Pay Category: Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave.
  • New Work Type: Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave taken.

We have updated the Leave Allowance Templates to disable the existing unpaid Family and Domestic Violence and we have enabled the new Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave. We also updated any impacted rule conditions.

As part of Fair Work's ruling, an employee must be paid their full pay rate; this includes their base rate plus any incentive-based payments and bonuses, loadings, monetary allowances, overtime or penalty rates, and any other separately identifiable amount.

July 2022

We have created a new tag for Apprentices Year 1 to Year 4 to receive Tool Allowance. The pay conditions rule sets Permanent Vehicle Industry RS&R - Employee, Driver or Salesperson & Casual Vehicle Industry RS&R - Employee, Driver or Salesperson have been updated to reflect the Tool Allowance calculations for Apprentices Year 1 to Year 4.

May 2022

We have updated the base rate for Adult Apprentice - Vehicle Industry RS&R - started after the 1st Jan 2014 - 1st year or stage one to the correct rate (from $18.48 to $18.94).

November 2021

We have updated the award in line with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) requirements for Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase Two reporting. We are disaggregating the reporting of gross earnings into distinguishable categories. We have also updated the Pay Category payment classifications in line with the ATO specification categories found here. 

August 2021

We have updated the Award to reflect changes to the rates of pay for 20-year-old full-time and part-time console operators, driveway attendants, and roadhouse attendants. Please note, we have decreased the rates for these employees. More information on the determination can be found here.

Once you instal the update, employees on the following pay rate templates will have their pay rates decreased in line with the new minimum rates outlined in Clause B.3.4 and B.3.5 of the award. The affected pay rate templates are Permanent - Console operator/Driveway attendant operating a console - 20 yrs, Permanent - Driveway attendant - 20 yrs, Permanent - Roadhouse attendant engaged primarily to cook other than take away meals - 20 years and Permanent - Roadhouse attendant required to cook take away meals only - 20 yrs.

The change is effective from the first full pay period that starts on or after 2nd August 2021. Please instal these updates after you have finalised your last pay run before the first full pay period beginning on or after the 2nd August 2021.

July 2021

The award has been updated to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s National Minimum Wage increase of 2.5% detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2020-21 decision and also includes updates to expense-related allowances. You can find information on the Determinations here and here.

These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021. Please instal these updates after you have finalised your last pay run before the first full pay period beginning on or after the 1st July 2021. Updates have also been made to the Leave Category Family & Domestic Violence Leave, so that the balance is displayed in days instead of hours in line with the National Employment Standards. Once you install this update,  we will show all employees FDV leave balances in days, not hours, and this will mean that an employee’s balance may now show as 38 days. 

With this update it will make sure that we capture any new instalment of this award conducted since the 1st July with the SG increase from 9.5% to 10% for all pay categories. If you have installed this award between the 1st July 2021 to the 8th July 2021 for the first time, please make sure you select no to preserve custom pay categories. If you were using this award before the 1st July 2021, then you do not need to select no. 

February 2021

We have updated the award, as part of the Group Three Awards, to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s National Minimum Wage increase of 1.75% detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2019-20 decision, and also includes updates to expense-related allowances. These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1the st February 2021. Please instal these updates after you have finalised your last pay run before the first full pay period beginning on or after the 1st February 2021.

September 2020

We have updated the pay conditions rule set for Casual Vehicle Industry RS&R - Employee, Driver or Salesperson to include the new rate and pay category for a casual salesperson: Sunday (RS&R) - Salesperson in line with an update to Fair Work's pay guides. We have also updated the Pay Rate Templates for casual salespersons has also to include the correct rate and pay category.

August 2020

We have updated the award to reflect the High Court's decision on the accrual of personal/carer's leave, which overturns the decision made by the Full Federal Court of Australia, with personal/carer's leave calculated on working days, not hours. You can find information on the decision here.

As such, we have removed the Personal/Carer's (10 days) Leave Allowance Templates and updated associated Employment Agreements. Please note, this update will not remove any of the above from a business that installed the award before the 25th August 2020. However, any new award instalments from the 25th August 2020 will not display personal/career's (10 days) leave details.

June 2020

We have updated the award pay rate templates to reflect the Australian Taxation Office's decision to increase the cents per kilometre rate for work-related car expense deductions to 72 cents per kilometre. The new rate applies from the first paid date in the 2020-21 financial year.

April 2020

We have updated the award to reflect changes made as part of the Fair Work Decision around flexibility during coronavirus. The new schedule allows employees to take up to two (2) weeks of unpaid pandemic leave. A new pay category (Unpaid Pandemic Leave Taken), leave category and work type (Unpaid Pandemic Leave) have been created. Also, we have updated the rule sets, where necessary, to include/exclude the work type and leave category to some pay conditions. Further, we have updated the Leave Allowance Templates to make sure this new leave category is enabled and is now accessible for employees to take this leave when required.

Also, under this new schedule employees can take up to twice as much annual leave at a proportionally reduced rate if their employer agrees. You will need to manually adjust the employee's pay rate and leave balance will need to be half in each pay run for the period of leave.

November 2019

We have updated the pay conditions for Permanent Vehicle Industry RS&R - Roadhouse Attendant, Driveway Attendant or Console Operator for clause 42.3 Consecutive Shift Work to include when an employee works ordinary hours.

October 2019

Update to the pay category Casual - Overtime (Saturday, Sunday & Public Holiday) to round to 2 decimal points.

September 2019

We have updated the Pay Conditions for Permanent Vehicle Industry RS&R - Roadhouse Attendant, Driveway Attendant or Console Operator for clause 42.3 Consecutive Shift Work. When an employee does not continue for at least five successive working days, we will pay for these shifts at the rate of time, and a half for each of these shifts.

June 2019

Updated the Employment Agreement for Casual Console Operator/Driveway Attendant (operating a console) to rectify leave allowance templates to include casual templates.

February 2019

Casual overtime rates for Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays were created and applied to the Casual pay rate templates. Also, the Casual Vehicle Industry RS&R - Roadhouse Attendant, Driveway Attendant or Console Operator rule set was updated to include the casual overtime pay conditions.

Coverage

During the Fair Work Commission's 4 yearly review of modern awards, the Commission decided that the manufacturing section of the Vehicle Manufacturing, Repair, Services and Retail Award (the Vehicle Award) should be moved into the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award (the Manufacturing Award) to reduce the complexity in the Vehicle Award. When the new awards come into operation on 4th May 2020, the Vehicle Award will become the Vehicle Repair, Services, and Retail Award 2020. The Manufacturing Award will then cover employees previously covered by sections two, three and four of the Vehicle Award.

The following work types, shift conditions and tags are available under the Vehicle Manufacturing, Repair, Services and Retail Award for Roadhouse Attendants, Driveway Attendants or Console Operators.

Work types

Work types are a description of the kind of shift employees are working and can be selected when an employee records a time sheet. The following is a list of work types employees can select on their time sheet and a reference guide for each item.

Annual Leave Taken

Choose this work type when annual leave is taken.

Call Back - 2nd+ for the Day (Breakdown, Accident or Emergency)

Choose this work type when an employee in a garage and/or an employee engaged as the driver of a tow and/or repair vehicle and/or the assistant to such a driver is recalled for a subsequent period after the first call back in the same day outside normal working hours for breakdown, accident or other emergency work.

Call Back (Breakdown, Accident or Emergency)

Choose this work type when an employee in a garage and/or an employee engaged as the driver of a tow and/or repair vehicle and/or the assistant to such a driver is recalled outside normal working hours for breakdown, accident, or other emergency work.

Compassionate Leave Taken

Choose this work type when compassionate leave is taken.

Family and Domestic Violence Leave Taken

Choose this work type when Family and Domestic Violence leave is taken.

Leave Without Pay Taken

Choose this work type when unpaid leave is taken.

Long Service Leave Taken

Choose this work type when long service leave is taken.

Meal Allowance - Overnight Travel

Choose this work type when an employee is required to travel and is required to stay away from home overnight and will be paid a meal allowance.

Own Vehicle (KM)

Choose this work type where an employer requests an employee to use their own motor vehicle on any day to perform ordinary work away from a location where the employee normally works. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field i.e. one unit is equivalent to one kilometre.

Paid Community Service Leave Taken

Choose this work type when paid community service leave is taken.

Personal/Carer's Leave Taken

Choose this work type when sick/carer's leave was taken.

Public Holiday Not Worked

Choose this work type when an employee is not required to work on a gazetted public holiday but otherwise would have worked on this day.

Standing by for Call

Choose this work type when an employee is required regularly to hold themselves in readiness for a call-back, or directed by an employer to hold themselves in readiness to work outside their ordinary working hours.

Time In Lieu Taken

Choose this work type when Time In Lieu leave is taken.

Travelling Time

Choose this work type when an employee is required on any day to travel to perform ordinary work away from a location where the employee normally works.

Working Through Meal Break

Choose this work type when the employee (Driveway or Roadhouse Attendant) is required to work beyond five hours without a meal break or work during a meal break and thereafter.

Shift conditions

Shift Conditions are further details you can add to a shift where more than one work condition applies to your shift. Create a new shift each time a shift condition changes. Shift conditions are selected when you edit a timesheet record, or when clocking on using the ClockMeIn Time and Attendance app. The following is a list of Shift Conditions employees can select on their timesheet and a reference guide for each item.

Confined Space

Select this shift condition when an employee is working in a confined space; i.e. a compartment, space or place, the dimensions of which necessitate the employee working in a stooped or otherwise cramped position or without proper ventilation.

Dirty Work

Select this shift condition when an employee is undertaking work which a foreperson and the employee agree is of an unusually dirty or offensive nature.

Driver Handling Money (>$0-$20)

Select this shift condition when a driver is handling money up to $20.

Driver Handling Money (>$20-$200)

Select this shift condition when a driver is handling money over $20 but not exceeding $200.

Driver Handling Money (>$200-$600)

Select this shift condition when a driver is handling money over $200 but not exceeding $600.

Driver Handling Money (>$600-$1000)

Select this shift condition when a driver is handling money over $600 but not exceeding $1,000.

Select this shift condition when an employee is using two or more fork-lifts or cranes are engaged in any one lift.

First Aid Duty

Select this shift condition when an employee is holding first aid qualifications and appointed by the employer to perform first aid duty.

Handling Glass or Slag Wool

Select this shift condition when an employee is handling loose slag wool, loose insulwool, or other loose material of a similar nature used for providing insulation against heat, cold, or noise.

Hot Places (46-54°C)

Select this shift condition when an employee is working for more than one hour in the shade In places where the temperature is raised by artificial means to between 46 and 54 degrees Celsius.

Hot Places (>54°C)

Select this shift condition when an employee is working for more than one hour in the shade In places where the temperature exceeds 54 degrees Celsius.

Leading Hand (3-10 Employees)

Select this shift condition when employee is in charge of 3-10 people for this shift.

Leading Hand (11-20 Employees)

Select this shift condition when an employee is in charge of 11-20 people for this shift.

Leading Hand (21+ Employees)

Select this shift condition when an employee is in charge of 21 or more people for this shift.

Notice Given or Meal Supplied to Work Overtime

Select this shift condition when an employee worked overtime and the employer provided a meal.

Usually Rostered to Work on Sun/PH; No Meal

Select this shift condition when an employee is usually rostered to work on Sunday or a Public Holiday and is working overtime and is not supplied a meal.

Wet Places (Required to work in Wet Clothing and/or Boots)

Select this shift condition when an employee who is not supplied with protective clothing, who is required to work in any place where the employee’s boots or clothing become saturated, whether by water, oil or otherwise.

Working on Underside of Uncleaned Livestock Transport Vehicle

Select this shift condition when an employee is working on the underside or the body of the stock compartment of a vehicle which has been regularly used in the carriage of livestock and which has not been cleaned down immediately before service.

Tags

Employee Tags are specific conditions typically related to the employee’s agreement. These are often conditions negotiated and agreed between the employer and the employee, or unique characteristics of the employee’s role which are recurring and ongoing.

Afternoon Shiftworker

Apply tag when employee works on afternoon shifts only.

Alternating Afternoon/Night Shiftworker

Apply tag when employee works afternoon and night shifts.

Alternating Day/Afternoon/Night Shiftworker

Apply tag when employee works, alternating day/night shifts, day/afternoon/night shifts, or day/afternoon shift combinations.

Console Operator

Apply tag when employee works as a console operator.

Continuous Shiftworker

Apply tag when employee works on consecutive shifts throughout the 24 hours of each of at least five consecutive days without interruption.

Driver Handling Money (>$0-$20) Apply tag when employee is a driver and is required to handle money up to $20.

Driver Handling Money (>$20-$200)

Apply tag when employee is a driver and is required to handle money over $20 and up to $200.

Driver Handling Money (>$200-$600)

Apply tag when employee is a driver and is required to handle money over $200 and up to $600.

Choose this work type when an employee is required to work overtime for more than one and a half hours without being notified on the previous day or earlier of the requirement to work overtime and the employer is not supplying a meal. This does not apply to a Vehicle Salesperson.

Meal Allowance (Vehicle Salesperson)

Choose this work type when a Vehicle Salesperson is required to be on duty at a motor show, agricultural show or similar exhibition either over the evening meal period or on a midday meal for a public holiday or work at a showroom or car yard for more than two hours after 6pm on any day without being notified on the previous day or earlier that they would be required to work and the employer is not supplying a meal or employee cannot return home.

Own Vehicle - Up to and Including 20HP (KM)

Choose this work type where an employer requests a vehicle salesperson to use their own motor vehicle with up to 20 hp on any day to perform ordinary work. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field i.e. one unit is equivalent to one kilometre.

Own Vehicle - Over 20HP (KM)

Choose this work type where an employer requests a vehicle salesperson to use their own motor vehicle with over 20 hp on any day to perform ordinary work. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field i.e. one unit is equivalent to one kilometre.

Own Vehicle (KM)

Choose this work type where an employer requests an employee to use their own motor vehicle on any day to perform ordinary work away from a location where the employee normally works. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field i.e. one unit is equivalent to one kilometre.

Paid Community Service Leave Taken

Choose this work type when Paid Community leave is taken.

Select this shift condition when an employee is principally employed to fit tyres as defined, and/or a person employed in tyre repairing and retreading processes as defined who is engaged in slicking and carbon black based slick, or employees who are engaged in hand spraying motor and/or motorcycle tyres or earthmover tyres or tractor tyres or truck tyres or actually working on acid vats in reclaiming.

Usually Rostered to Work on Sun/PH; No Meal

Select this shift condition when an employee is usually rostered to work on Sunday or a Public Holiday and is working overtime and is not supplied a meal.

Wet Places (Required to work in Wet Clothing and/or Boots)
