Why is it hard to spot setup problems in a payroll file?
A payroll file can look fine until someone opens the right record.
Problems hide in the detail
A missing leave allowance template, a state that doesn't match where someone lives or an employment type that doesn't match their agreement sits quietly in a record until someone looks.
There is a lot to check
Employee records, pay schedules, tax and super details and pay categories all live in different parts of the file, so a full check means opening a lot of screens.
Checking by hand is slow
Going employee by employee, setting by setting, takes time most teams don't have before pay day.
Toolbox runs the checks you choose on your own file, without waiting on anyone.

Yes, but a free Gmail account is enough, you don't need a paid Google Workspace subscription. Toolbox is a Google Sheets™ extension, so you'll need a Google account to install it and run it in a Google Sheet.
No. Everything runs from menus inside Google Sheets. If your team is comfortable in a spreadsheet, they're already comfortable in Toolbox.
